Chem 101 study guide/pre-study guide?

Specializes in ICU hopeful!.

Hi all -

I will be taking Chem 101 at ASU (Phoenix) in the fall....only about a month away!

I haven't taken any sciences in probably 5 or 6 years. I was wondering if anyone knew of any online study sites that I could use to just help familiarize myself with the very basics of chemistry, or any good books?

I know it is difficult to pinpoint since every chemistry class and teacher are a little bit different but anything that is generic/basic would be greatly appreciated.

Khan Academy has chemistry videos that you might find helpful.

Since the class is Chem 101, the experience should provide you with the very basics. Independent study is not going to hurt you at all, but I wonder if you will get much out of it.

Chemistry is a fascinating subject and even the toughest areas can be broken down into easy to grasp concepts. A solid base in chemistry will serve you very well in future courses. The best thing you can do is go into the class with a great attitude, and open mind, and willingness to work hard and ask questions.
