Chem 60 or 101 as a pre-req?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I'm confused about this...I'm applying to state schools in California (SF State, etc.) and according to assist.org, Chem 60 is an acceptable pre-requisite. But other pre-nursing students tell me you have to apply with Chem 101 under your belt. I don't think I can stand another Chemistry class. Anyone know the truth??

Anything under 100 is developmental courses. A lot of schools won't even give you the transfer credits for those.

What does "developmental" mean exactly? The course I took was 5 units with a lab.

Your under "100" classes are "prep" courses for the "college" level courses. You would need to be able to place into these college level courses with their standardized testing. Like for College Algebra which is Mat 123 at my school. I didn't place into the class so I needed to take Mat 070 which was Intro to Algebra. These classes are "developemental" classes meaning that it prepares you for your college course. Here in NC, these courses do not count toward your credit hours for graduation nor transfer credits. Of course, that's for my state. You may want to check with your advisor before you run with this info.
