Charter College reviews (Canyon Country)

It's pretty high, but not that far off. I just visited Concorde and their cost is $32,000 for a 12 month LVN program. They definitely don't have a 100% passing rate though. I believe the passing rate is at 86%, which is still good. Good luck!

I visited Charter College back in September 2010 and was also impressed by their staff. However, the tuition was a bit too high and I decided to look at other schools. Luckily, I was told that Charter just lowered their tuition to 32,000 which is still a lot but any reduction helps!

I was told that many colleges won't accept charter credits...which would make progressing to a higher degree problematic? Anyone? (I'm already in another school but have a friend that's looking at Charter and don't want her to waste her time if she can't further her education using credits from this school's program.)

hello all, i am new to this site. I am beginning my ambitions for a nursing career! I have been getting prereqs done so that i could enter into a community college program, however i decided that it would pay off to bite the cost of a private school rather than wait the 5-6 years or so it would take for public.
I visited charter college today in canyon country and was very impressed with the staff and program they offer, however it costs $38,000 for a 14 month lvn program! I know this is a lot, but they have an 82% job placement success rate and a 100% nclex pass rate. The tuition includes everything from uniforms, to materials and books. I wanted to know if this was on par with all of the other schools in the area, or if it is ridiculously high.

omg! You should look into north valley occupational adult school. Or simi valley adult school. There are many adult schools that have nursing programs, that are not expensive. You should do more researching before you settle into a private school. If you are not sure about nursing. Try geting your cna. College of the canyons provide cna course and it's only 2 months. I hope i provide enough info.

Please do NOT attend this school! I am a recent graduate to this school, and I have nothing but bad experience. I wish I did my research before I even went to this school. Don't get me wrong, I graduated and I am now licensed but this school has given me nothing but negativity.

First off, the first day of orientation.. our books weren't even complete and we had readings due on first day of class. How did they expect us to be prepared? The same thing happened for our 2nd and 4th term. Second, we did not have a "permanent" term 1 professor. We started off with one professor the first week, a different one the next one, and were bounced off from different professors up until the 5th week. How hard was that cus every teacher has a different way of teaching.

Our clinical experience was really limited. I have heard of other schools being able to do their clinicals at hospitals, we were only exposed to SNF. During our peds and maternity we didn't have any clinicals.. everything was in the lab. It sucks cus I have heard stories of people being able to experience live birth (my class watched about 30 videos).

All my professors and clinical instructors were amazing, I learned a lot from them. That was one of the positive, but their admins was horrible! Very slow and their communication is horrible. We were not told about changing the graduation and pinning dates, we ended in Dec but wanted to do our pinning and graduation in April with the next class. We were told about this change towards our 4th term (15 weeks before we finish). We took it to the president and he belittled our class and made sexist comments about how "theres so many women in this room right now" We ended up having our pinning in January.

I know I am all over the place, I'm trying to remember everything that happened. But please.. don't walk, run away from this place! You'll thank me one day.

Plus, 33k for an LVN. Theres far more cheaper programs out there with better clinical experience. It sucks cus people often come to me and ask where I went to school and I wish I could give them a good review about my school. But I can't.

I think the school has gotten better. But I do agree there are problems with the school. I was lucky enough to have Mrs. Ice for the first term and 1 day a week for the 2nd term. She's an awesome teacher. I'm nervous about who will teach term 4. There isn't a permanent teacher yet! Clinicals leave a lot to be desired. I don't know. It's not great but in my experience, it has gotten better. I never had a problem with getting my books. The new president is a lot nicer than that guy who used to be there. He seemed like an a$$. From what I've heard, all of the private schools in our area are extremely expensive and have problems. You paid $33k? I got charged $37k! I graduate in June. I can't wait til it's over. I love my classmates but I'm ready to be done.

To anyone who wants to go to Charter College â€“ do your research first! Ask around and compare â€“ I wish I had done my homework before being suckered into this school.

My teachers were alright, only three (Nancy, Simpson, Ice) were actually good. A lot of them merely passed students because holding back students reflects badly on them. Like I said, only a few actually know what they're doing and challenge their students to learn and do better. A lot of them babysat â€“ especially during clinicals.

Like others have said, they leave a lot to be desired. I learned a lot at one location (resp care and suctioning, wound care, proper charting, proper med pass ect) but at the other locations, students just wander, play cards and learn very little. There was a lot of sitting around! Either the location didn't let students do much, or the instructor.

There was a lot of drama when I was around too, between the students and teacher. One teacher left because she was fed up. Groups had to be taken out of class to resolve things between each other. It was all so stupid.

I spent more than six months preparing NCLEX after I graduated, with little help from the school! They claimed they were gonna get NCLEX reviews but that didn't happen until a month before I was going to test! They offer ATI for students and it helps â€“ the resources they gave me was worth more than I ever got from the school. I went out and purchased several NCLEX review books to help me out too.

Luckily, I passed and I'm now licensed but I did most of it on my own. I blew $36 grand on this school and it honestly wasn't worth it.
