Charlotte area CNA positions??

Published

I will be quiting my fulltime M-F day job this august 2009 to begin nursing school fulltime @ Cabarrus College of Health Sciences in Concord. I was wondering if anyone has any contacts or info for CNA, Unit Sec or Registration Rep positions open in the Charlotte or Concord area. I have been applying at both CMC and presbyterian for the past month but I have yet to receive a call back and I am getting nervous about leaving my job if I can't locate some sort of part time position. Please help if you can.

Thanks;)

good luck. I've been a working cna for 2.5 years in charlotte & would NOT recommend doing cna work asnymore than you have to. neither hospital system here in charlotte hires quickly or normally outside of their own schools of nursing. that said, keep your decent job before pursuing a low paying position such as a cna. the pay is bad, conditions crappy ( hospitals do NOT compete for cnas), there's little or no overtime unless you have an IN with the nurse mgr. hate to rain on your parade, but most of the recent grads i work with kept a real job ,even if part time rather than blow 40+ hours a week trying to live off a cnas money. basically they pay you just enough NOT to get food stamps or any other government help while you're fighting through nursing school. nursing school is tough enough (am there too!), but it's worth it, being a cna is NOT. on the other hand ,if you can get one of the rare killer private sector jobs helping a well to do family with grandma, yeah, you can do it okay, i just would NOT DO THE CNA FOR PAY ROUTE, JUST NOT WORTH IT!! good luck with school, you can do it!:yeah:

You did not say whether you had experience as a CNA.... most of the hospitals will not call you without any CNA experience but if you do the hospitals in this area (CMC, Presby) take their time (often several months)to call you back for just the first interview with a recruiter. If you have been at your current job for a while and really need to work, stay, and see if they will work with your school schedule or until something comes along CNA wise. If you really want a CNA job, nursing homes are always hiring in this area. Good luck with finding a job and with nursing school this Fall.
