  1. I am so happy for you :). Thank you for the advice. I just started at EC and will be taking my first test, "Healthy Safety" tomorrow. I am so ready to be where you are at right now and knowing it can be done is good to hear. Congrats!!!!!!!!!
  2. You did not say whether you had experience as a CNA.... most of the hospitals will not call you without any CNA experience but if you do the hospitals in this area (CMC, Presby) take their time (often several months)to call you back for just the first interview with a recruiter. If you have been at your current job for a while and really need to work, stay, and see if they will work with your school schedule or until something comes along CNA wise. If you really want a CNA job, nursing homes are always hiring in this area. Good luck with finding a job and with nursing school this Fall.
  3. i was in your shoes in june of this year. it was the worst thing i ever had to face in my life...but if you really want it bad enough, keep trying. i think my misery came more from thinking about my family and how they would feel and react. they were very supportive so that is how i got through it all. i'm not going to tell you that i still don't cry about it because i do and i made some really good friends while there and to know they will be graduating in less that 8 months really makes me sad but i will be starting back in january 09 and this time i hope to be successful. good luck with whatever you decide to do.
  4. hi everybody!!! i start this coming monday, aug. 20 and i am also very excited. psalms, your "words of wisdom" are the best!!! good luck to all!!!
  5. Your pray was great! I'm going to definitely use it. Thanks
  6. Statistics kicked my behind.......It was the only course I took during the summer session and I struggle every part of the way. I took it a second time and did much better. BEST OF LUCK!!!
  7. Thanks "KrazyKev".
  8. Congratulations on being accepted into the CNA program and lots of luck!!!!!
  9. Hi! CNArural is telling you the truth. I have several friends who were in the ADN program and have said that the students who have been CNA's before and even during nursing school were doing better then the ones who have had no experience. I think you have more of a comfort zone than those who have never been in a LTC environment or a hospital. It is intimidating at first so along with the normal nursing school anxiety your trying to become comfortable in your surroundings. I personally get more out of participating. Good Luck with whatever you decide to do.
  10. Cherish is so right........ they are very expensive. I went to an information session at the ECPI Charlotte location and I was told $24,000 for the LPN program. They do have day and evening but I thing the evening classes takes you longer to graduate. The good thing about their program is that if you do well on the ATI test your in and you have more opportunities to apply verses the normal once a year Community College programs. Mostly all of the Community Colleges in Charlotte and the surrounding areas offer the LPN program and it is much more cheaper. Good Luck with whatever you decide:wink2: .
  11. hi Irene joy. The test is used to test your strength and I passed 9 out of the 10 skill test. If my schedule permits I may just do what you suggest and work some where else just so I can use my tech skills and get that patient interaction. Thanks.
  12. Hi everyone! I just started a secretary/tech job at a large hospital in the Intensive Care Nursery. I am CNA certified but when I went to employee health for my health assessment I failed the push/pull test. The nurse manager that hired me said not to worry because I can retest in 6 months but in the meantime I can't work in the capacity of a CNA. I can only do the secretary job. This makes me feel really bad because I am certified and I'm a little embarrassed that I failed this push/pull test. Should I stay at this job or find another job that will allow me to work as a Tech? Thanks, Pink123
