Hey guys,
I'm currently taking prerequisites for nursing classes at Delgado and was wondering how recent grads from Charity are doing looking for jobs in the New Orleans area. I've heard a lot about ADN programs being phased out and ADN grads looked down upon across the country, which is worrisome, but I'm not sure how it is locally.
Ideally I plan on finishing my ADN and doing an RN-BSN online bridge program after so I can start working as soon as possible. Have any of you guys had trouble finding hospital jobs in New Orleans with an ADN?
I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!

I have an ADN from out of state, and was just recently hired on at one of the New Orleans hospitals...as a new grad. What I've learned over the years is to not place too much importance on the ADN vs. BSN. BSNs are preferred--they always will be. However, there are far too many positions open that need to be filled, and too few BSN programs and graduates to fill them. Your accredited ADN will get you a job. No worries :).

I tried PMing you, but I don't think I was doing it right :). I really want to work in either a pediatric or neonatal ICU, so the fact that those are competitive positions is what concerns me... Anyway, we'll see! Thank you again!
