Changing Nursing Schools

Published

Hello Fellow Nurses/Students,

I have noticed that there is little uniformity between nursing schools, which makes it hard to change nursing schools. Is it possible to find a school that will evaluate the transcript and give me credit for the nursing courses that I have taken? Has anyone been successful in doing this?

Unfortunately you will find that most nursing courses with clinical hours will not transfer.

This is multifactorial in that every school has somewhat of a different curriculum, even if there are small difference. Schools also, do not want to vouch for clinical experience that their professors/clinicians did not observe.

During my time in nursing school I met a handful of students who had to start from scratch when they transferred schools, this was the norm in 2010.

Nope. I transferred from one ASN program to another ASN program and only my LPN stuff transferred, along with gen eds.

Heck no! They want your money. If they transfer everything then you would not need to go full time for however long their program is. I tried and Microbiology would not along with a few others. I appealed the micro and they said the chapters were not all the same. Micro is micro! 80% of the curriculum must match in order to transfer.
I spent over 3 yrs going to RN school and passed every course except the last semester which was self guided practice questions. I got booted out of school and had to quite my job at a trauma hospital and find a job at a facility. Now come to find out I applied for a multi state and I can not get one because I challenged the FL board of Nursing so I do not qualify. Totally ridiculous! Something needs to change !
