I need some help deciding which program to enter... I've already weighed the pros and cons and basically the situation I'm in is that I want to get my BSN- that is for sure, and I want to attend a program that HAS no wait whatsoever because I'm a very impatient person. Cost is a factor (since I'm a 16 yr old minor DEPENDENT on my financial aid). I've gotten tuition estimates and they both are around the same price (~70k). The only thing that worries me is my mom believes Chamberlain is a "diploma mill/ technical institute" since it is associated with Devry University and I hate the fact that people may not think my degree is "real" ... I'm also worried about taking the HESI to get into Chamberlain's program... I'm just an okay test taker- but I'd obviously study a hesi study guide before I took the test. As for Grand Canyon, I know/have heard it is really religious plus it is in a bad area of town... I wouldn't be living on campus for either school but I just don't want to be in a predominately known "bad area of town" for myschooling. All in all, I would just like fellow nursing students (and even nurses thoughts) on the two programs and what your opinion of them is it would really help in my decision process.

I live in Phoenix also and was considering both schools. Due to the cost I won't be able to attend either but my choice would have been GCU. The main reason being that the hospital I want to work with, John C Lincoln, sends their RN's there that want to get their BSN. That somewhat put a comfort zone in me knowing the hospital helped with tuition there. It said to me they trusted the school, also while I had my stay in the hospital. The nurse that was taking care of me said she absolutely loved the program. The area of town is not bad at all. The campus is very nice also.
Hi Dannie, I really appreciated your reply. I too am in no financial situation to attend either, but I am hoping my grants will add up to afford the cost of either programs (and I'm hoping to also apply for scholarships and knock out a bunch of pre-reqs @ CC at no cost to me...) What school do you currently attend?
I am currently in my final semester (once fall hits) at Phoenix College. At that point I'll be applying for the RN program in Phoenix and also out of state.
Oh nice! What programs are you planning on applying to?
I am in the process of figuring that out now and getting help via allnurses.com. Making post in all the states to see which programs do not have a wait list like Phoenix
oh my bad! well good luck with finding no wait programs, there is a list here of programs with no wait list across the US if you're interested in checking it out!

Thanks, I have actually looked at that list and it seems to only be partially true, not sure if its outdated or not.
