Chamberlain College, Houston TX

Published

Hi! I'm looking into Chamberlain College of Nursing in Houston, TX and I was wondering if anyone could answer some questions for me. I'm mostly concerned with how many of my credits are going to transfer - I have literally taken every class that I need for the degree outside of nursing classes, so my first year should be complete. Has anyone transferred in a ton of credits? Did they accept most of them? I'm mostly concerned with the science...I don't want to re-take those! Also, do they accept FAFSA? I keep seeing people say it's expensive on here so that's another issue... And last, do you like it? I'm trying to apply for the August 2015 session, so anything you can tell me would help!

Thanks!

Have you discussed this with the school's admission office? Since they sell an 'integrated' curriculum as an $89k+ package deal, I am curious as to whether they will cut you a break and let you only take the nursing courses. Last I heard, they are still eligible to participate in Federal aid programs, so FAFSA is relevant. They are are a new program - with a very nice, shiny and new campus - but so far, NCLEX results have been dismal. That's an awful lot of money for what is arguably a mediocre education.

You may want to keep in mind that DeVry - their parent company - is experiencing some very hard times, with significant faculty & staff layoffs. It may splash over and affect Chamberlain as well.
