challenging the CNA exam?

Published

I was told that a way to help me out getting a got once I graduate with my LPN is to challenge the CNA exam after my first semester and working however much I can manage as a CNA my second semester so I get more experience. Has anyone challenged the CNA exam? I know you can in NC but I was just wondering what people's experiences have been like. Thanks!

a really good friend of mine did, but she got certified like back in 2000, so i don't know if thats the same and we live in iowa. She's one of the best aides i know.

Once you graduate from LPN school, why would you want to take the CNA exam? After graduating take the state boards. Or maybe I am not understanding the question?

If you are saying you want to be a CNA while you are in school, then I think it would be worth a shot. I challenged the CNA exam because I have to be a CNA before I start nursing school in the Fall. I didn't have time to take a CNA course. I don't know if it would be more difficult to find a job though if you did not complete a CNA course. From what I have heard, most employers ask for your course certificate. The people I know that challenged the exam were either certified already in another state and moved to NC, or just needed to be a CNA before nursing school.
