Hi everyone! I noticed there hasn't been a topic started for Chabot, so I thought I'd get things rolling. I've already started my application just finishing it up 🙂
For my stats: I am applying with about 73 points. Good luck to everyone!

I've read somewhere that people may confuse the first and second questions from the monkey survey form that they sent for us to accept. The alternate list should move around once that deadline had passed.
If you're considering the nursing program at Chabot College in Hayward, CA — please do your research and think twice.
Yes, the program boasts a 95–100% NCLEX pass rate, but what they don't tell you is that this is likely because they remove or fail nearly half the class before graduation. The Class of 2025 started with 39 students and only 20 graduated. That's a 49% attrition rate — and it's not because people aren't trying.
Here's what you should know:
Grading is inconsistent and subjective. What passes with one instructor may fail with another.
Favoritism and bias are real. Some students are given second chances — others are written off.
There is minimal support if you're struggling. Instead of help, many get shown the door.
Faculty communication and expectations are unclear. This creates confusion and stress.
The program creates a culture of fear and silence, where students are afraid to advocate for themselves.
I'm not saying nursing school should be easy — but it should be fair, transparent, and supportive. Chabot doesn't seem to be any of those things right now.
If you're serious about becoming a nurse, look into other local programs like CSU East Bay, Merritt, Ohlone, or even private options if cost allows. Don't waste your time, money, and mental health on a program that seems more focused on protecting its stats than its students.
Feel free to DM me if you want more honest info. Just trying to save others from what so many of us went through.

Thank you for your insight, but if this is the only school I have left waiting for acceptance then it's better to try. Your nursing school experience is going be different from everybody else. I appreciate you sharing your opinions. And honestly, that sounds the same working in healthcare, they just don't tell you ahead about it going into nursing school.

Totally hear you, and I agree, sometimes you have to take the opportunity you're given, especially if it's your only option. Everyone's journey is different, and I respect that.
That said, I still wouldn't personally recommend Chabot to anyone unless major changes are made. The environment there just isn't healthy: poor leadership, lack of student support, and a culture that pushes people out instead of lifting them up. It's more than just the typical stress of nursing school or working in healthcare. There's a level of dysfunction that goes beyond what's acceptable.
If you do end up going, just be prepared and advocate for yourself hard. I truly hope your experience is better than mine. And if you ever need to talk or need support along the way, I'm here for you.
