Published

Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum!

I am a UK trained Nurse with 12 yrs experience in clinic Nursing and recently Med/ Surg at my local hospital. Looking to move to one of the southern states with dear Hubby and 2 kids. I have sucessfully navigated the CGFNS maze and have passed the exam and have my visascreen cert. But now I'm STUCK!

I have been trawling the internet looking for a petitioner/sponsor for green card and am not getting very far.

Would love to hear from anyone out there who has gone through, or is going through the same process to swap tips and gripes!

If anyone can point me in the right direction for a job offer I would be eternally gratefull!:uhoh3:

You need to be alot more specific............which state or states? Have you applied to any one of them so that you can wirte the NCLEX exam? I would go ahead and get this done as quickly as possible.

What are you looking for on the internet? What have you been doing?

You need to limit your search to the area in which you want to live, then decide on the type of facility that you would like to work in: small, large, teaching, non-teaching, trauma center, magnet hospital, etc. Then look up some of the hospitals that fit what you want, not the other way around.

Find out the name of the director of Human Resources for that facility, then send an e-mail to them. Do not just send a blanket e-mail to the HR Dept, but to a specific person. It shows that you took the time to do your homework and find out about the hospital.

Give this a try....................good luck. :balloons:

Thankyou Suzanne,

I am looking for med/surg in a teaching hospital, texas or Tennessee. I have been lookig for recruitment agencies but having read your posts on this site I am almost convinced to go it alone!

I am about to apply direct to Texas BON but am waiting for my CGFNS cert to arrive as all info has to be posted together. If I email the director of human resources, do I attatch my resume? Do I ask directly if they sponsor/ petition foreign nurses?

I do appreciate your input.......Thankyou.

You do not want to ask if they sponsor foreign nurses, as this meant nurses that were under the temporary visa, H1-B which no longer exists for nurses.

The would that you want is petition and make sure that the e-mail goes directly to the head of HR and not a secretary. Yes, you can submit your resume along with the e-mail.

Thankyou Suzanne, you have been a great help.

One more question....how do you get the email address of the director of HR? If I telephone the hosp. will they give it out? Some of the hospitals websites don't give email addresses or names.

Thankyou once again!!!!!!

You can call and ask for it, or look under administrators listing of the hospital, there is usually a listing of the heads of the departments somewhere listed.

Not always right in front, but you can usually come up with it.
