what are CEU's

well i understand that they continue your education, but does it just involve reading an article and then taking a test? what do you do with them after you have earned them? and is there any other benefits, say from the employer, besides the fact that we are educating ourselves? going on interviews soon and would like to know what to ask re: continueing ed. thanks!

CEU's are articles, courses, and specialized training units, as well as many other things.

In most states proof of CEU's is necessary in order to renew your license. So they are a necessary evil.

Many hospitals will pay what they call "education" hours, meaning they place time in your "bank" (kinda like vacation time). The point being that you use that time off to complete your needed CEU's.

You can find CEU's many places, most usually find them in nures's magazines, and news papers. You will also be suprised of the unsolicided mail you will get. Many hospitals also offer classes. When you complete a CE course you should recieve a certificate, make sure you keep them, cause they are the proof you will be sending to your BRN when you renew.

Hope this helps,
