I was wondering if any of you have heard of epidurals causing hair to thin or fall out? I know alot of hair falls out and returns to normal after you have the baby and stop taking prenatals but can the epidural cause the thinning or shedding of hair that is not normal? If so, does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Not bald or anything but my hair is thinning out.

never heard of such a thing as an OB nurse. But I am not anesthesia expert.

Truth be told, I think it's more related to your pregnancy ----your hair thickens and grows more during pregnancy and in the months after delivery, it falls out again, actually returning to more like pre-pregnancy consistency. THIS is a VERY COMMON phenomenon due to fluctuating hormone levels in the postpartum period.---Progesterone/estrogen shifts, mainly. It has nothing to do with prenatal vitamins and the use/discontinuation of them, really. Take care and congratulations to you and your family.

But it's been over a year now since I had my baby he's almost 14 months now. What made me ask was I've been noticing my hair coming out when I take my shower and think, "it's still coming out".. I went to the salon yesterday to get my hair cut and while she was shampooing it she said you know your hair is shedding. So I told her that my previous stylist said that it was normal, she said it isn't normal after all this time has gone by, it should have stopped awhile ago? what do you think

Hi shirley are you still breastfeeding your baby? If so that's normal, that happend with my hair!! It was dry and came out!!! Take som vitamins for your hair!!

Oh NOOOOO! I stopped breastfedding a LOng LONG LONG time ago. Which vit. would you recommend. The stylist recomm. nioxin so I got on their website and they state that it is suppose to help thinning hair. It's not to the point that is is noticable, but if it keeps up for another 6 months it might be>>>>

Damn it!!! I have never had a problem with me hair until now...

Do you have any thyroid problems? Does it run in your family? Are you diabetic? Go to your physician and have some bloodwork done. Please, try not to worry. Nip it in the bud! Leslie.
