Anyone have any tips on preparing for the CCRN? I am going to start hitting the books to try and take it with in the next couple of months. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

AACN has books to study with. I used the Pediatric, but I'm sure they have Adult available. Try their website.

I used AACN's practice exam book and CD (which reminds me, I must send them to my brother-in-law). Both are a serious of 200 questions with answers and rationale. I did very well using this stategy. Good luck.

As a side-note, I think the test has a rather bad rap. I've only ever known one person who failed it. Overall, I found the questions very basic straight forward critical care stuff.

I used a test book and tapes back in '96 from Laura Gasparis Vonfrolio. You can order them at greatnurses.com.

I watched Laura Gisparus' video series and read her "pearls".

Ditto on the Laura Gasparis stuff -- I listened to her tapes while I was driving, washing dishes, etc. My Ex thought I was CRAZY; but, hey, it worked for me! She is way funny, and I still remember the things she said! That was MANY moons ago! I think I did it in 1999
