CNM Salary

Hey midwives! Trying to get a real feel for CNM Salaries. I know its extremely variable based on region, training, experience, but I'd like to know what people's experiences have been. While I consider midwifery a calling and don't do it for the money, we still need to support our families. What is your salary, experience and region?

In the NYC area I made about 90k at a public hospital (first and only job so far). That is on the very low end, and the job had other benefits to make up for it, like free health insurance for my whole family, a 40 hour work week, and an amazing group of fellow midwife mentors. Private practice midwives can make well over 100k, but may work much longer hours.

We just moved to Tennessee and I'm looking at jobs---pay seems to be about comparable with NYC, but with a lower cost of living. Not too shabby.
