Hello All you Nurses out there.. I have always wanted to be an infusion nurse ,but got injured at my regular job. now that I have not worked for over a year I can't even sign up for the application or state boards.

Does anyone know how to become a Certified Infusion Nurse after not working for a year, and cant go back to regular nursing job?

Thanks

I'm sorry, but are you already a nurse? I ask this because you mentioned that you can't sign up for state boards. If you are not a nurse yet, and you are waiting to take state boards, I'd recommend working at least a couple of years on a med-surg floor to become familiar with all types of IV Therapy. Then, if you want to become an infusion nurse, go to www.ins1.org and find a site of testing close to you and sit for the exam. No, it is not easy, and some may not pass it on the first try, but keep at it.

HI Bronze 4 yes I am an RN and I have worked at hospitals in peds/surgical med/tele ICU and Outpt Surgery GI. My issue is I got hurt at work and I have not been able to go back since last year and I am being told if your past employer doesn't sign off on the application they will not approve the application and you will not be able to sign up for the state boards for the Certified Infusion Nurse exam.

Any other Ideas?
