Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hi! Allnurses!

I just need some advice how to make my resume and cover letter. I worked before as a clinic nurse from other country, 2 1/2 years ago for more than 3 years. I didn't come back after my vacation because I got pregnant from my first child. So I got banned from that country because I still have an entry visa and didn't come back. It's almost 2 and a half years now and I haven't any work experience 'cause I choose to rest and took care of my child. Now, I want to apply in the hospital again, but I don't have the certificate from my employer before they don't want to give me any certificates that I have worked on their clinic.

Just need some advice how to make my resume and cover letter with an outdated experience and no certificate.

thank you

Are you in the US now? You don't typically have to "prove" employment with another facility by providing paper records. Do you have colleagues or a supervisor at this facility that you are friendly with or have stayed in contact? If so, I would list that person as a reference from that institution. You would otherwise just list your work experience with accurate dates and, if the employment gap comes up in an interview, you say you took time off to care for family.
