Cellphones at work - are they really that important? For those who cary them for emergency puposes I can kind of understand but have they ever been called? Any ideas how to keep the curse of the smartphones undercontrol? Looking for any help I can get

I think part of the reason why people "did just fine" without being glued to a phone at the workplace was because information was not as accessible as it is now. I know I use mine to look up care plans, diagnoses, meds etc. so much easier than carrying around three different books that have that kind of info. I also use the calculator on my phone and notes. Just saying. I also work for a home care company that texts and emails available shifts. I like to check my phone so I can get additional shifts before they are taken by someone else. Of course I am not using my phone in a patients room or anything like that.
