I reached out and guess my unit I interviewed for also has not made their final decisions yet. Still hanging on to hope ?

Wishing you the best ??

I just got my results for the OR! Best of luck to yall!

My application still says under consideration. Does that mean I won't be getting an interview since so many already interviewed?

Congratulations to everyone who got an offer. For those who didn't, don't give up. This was my second time applying before getting an offer. Is anyone interested in creating a facebook group for our cohort?

Yes please!

Hi Everyone,

congrats to everyone who got an offer. I wanted to ask about the interview process, was it a panel interview ? what kind of questions were asked?

Has anyone applied to 8N - Brain and Spine? If so, did you hear anything back yet

Hi! Long shot to get a reply, but worth a shot. How was your interview? What kind of questions were you asked?

I have an interview with surgical spine 8N! For first week of December. Anyone know how the interview questions will be? Originally applied for Peds and med surge. I'm also curious does anyone have their RN license already ?

Any updates for the OR guys? Did anyone reach out to HR?

Hello! Was wondering what the interview for the OR dept was like for you? Were there any clinical questions?

Hello! If you don't mind, what type of questions did the unit ask? Any advice? Super nervous

I don't recall the specific questions but even if I did, I'm pretty sure we're not allowed to post them here. I think I've seen them deleted in the past. I would suggest preparing answers for a few specific topics and using those to answer the questions. As long as the topic is vaguely related it will work. So for example, here are some generic questions I always have a specific example/answer for:

  1. Why I want to work there
  2. What are my top skills/attributes/strengths?
    1. you can also use this to answer "Why are you a good candidate for this position?" or work part of this answer into question #1 above; interviewers want to know what you bring to the table, not just want you want from them
  3. A mistake I made, how I fixed it, and *what learned from it* to avoid it in the future
    1. don't make this a critical mistake like giving Oxy to the wrong pt!
    2. mistakes on the job are inevitable and expected, especially as a new grad; what matters is taking ownership and learning
  4. a conflict with a worker and how I resolved it & learned from it
  5. a time when I gave exceptional care to a patient
    1. this can also be used to highlight your strengths & skills if they haven't asked you about them OR you can briefly mention those strengths/skills again to reinforce them in the interviewers minds
    2. no matter what your story is, mention how patient SAFETY was part of it

General keywords you may want to use, but make sure they make sense and ideally have an example ready to go:

  • ***SAFETY*** (as a new grad, there's a lot you don't know, what efforts will you make to practice safely while you are learning and making mistakes along the way?)
  • compassionate, respectful care
  • prioritization
  • learning opportunity
  • communication skills
    • SBAR/report to healthcare workers
    • therapeutic comm. with patients & family
  • time management & delegation

Hope that helps
