Hello Everyone, I'm looking for help for a cardiac nursing class that I am taking now. The course is focused on CCU/CVICU cardiac stuff. We have to pick a topic, any topic pertinent to the cardiac patient, find two NURSING articles about the topic, and just write about it. Teacher really wants the focus to be nursing, not medical. But I'm stuck on the topic. I have a list of possible topics I've made up, but nothing has really sparked an interest in me yet. So, is there anything from your cardiac nursing practice that you think would make a good essay. Please, suggest anything you can think of!
So, this is what I've thought of:
- Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia
- Women & Heart Disease
- STEMI in the ER
- Risk Factors for ACS
Your suggestions??

Sheath pulls after a percutaneous cardiac intervention are pretty neat. Holding both hands/fists/sometimes your whole body on the patient's groin to stop the femoral artery from spurting isn't always easy! And there's a bunch of things you need to be on the watch for while, and after, pulling the sheath.
Good luck w/ whatever you come up with!

Caridac Rehab of the post CABG surgical patient. We ask them to do a lot when they are extubated and hemodynamically stable, which is usually within 6-8 hours post op. Or you could do the benefits/nursing standards of turning, doing the incentive spirometer q 2 and Cough and Deep Breathing on a CABG pt.
