I've created a Petition, that would help those, who are applying to the RN Programs in California and have to endure the Lottery System, in order to enter the RN program. The Lottery System in CA (CCSF - that is where I've been trying to get into for 2 years now!) is unfair and unreasonable!
CCSF qualifies students for the RN Program starting at 2.5 GPA, despite the shortages of the Nursing Instructors and an enormous Budget Cuts! If you go to the Hospital would you rather be evaluated by someone who just barely passed with a C grade, or a straight A Student?!!! ... I am sure you would rather have a Nurse who is smart, intelligent and dedicated to her profession, who did real good at college and studied hard!
Please sign this Petition to the White House! We MUST raise the standard qualifications for the Nurses in California!
I disagree, I do not think grades can accurately gauge whether or not someone will be a good nurse. Perhaps the person is hard-working, but has children, or a full-time job, preventing them from excelling gradeswise.
Straight A's in nursing prerequisites does not (necessarily) a good nurse make... Conversely, getting less than straight A's does not a bad nurse make...
