CCl4 and alcohol consumption

Published

I have a case study for Patho and I have a question that I cant get pass it. It want to know what did the exposure to CCl4 and drinking alcohol have to do with the guys problem. I think he is experiencing Toxic ATN because of his alcohol consumption and then being in an unventilated environment while using carbon tetrachloride. he was cleaning his girlfriends bathroom.

Do any of you ladies know, I have searched high and low but cant find anything.:cry:

since i haven't seen the case study and you did not specify what the guys problem is that you are asking about it's hard to answer your question.

however here is a website and a part of the article that might help.

[color=#231f20][color=#231f20][color=#231f20]this fact sheet answers the most frequently asked health questions (faqs) about carbon tetrachloride.

[color=#231f20]

[color=#231f20][color=#231f20]how can carbon tetrachloride affect my health?

[color=#231f20][color=#231f20]high exposure to carbon tetrachloride can cause liver,[color=#231f20]

[color=#231f20]

[color=#231f20]kidney, and central nervous system damage. these effects

[color=#231f20]can occur after ingestion or breathing carbon tetrachloride,

[color=#231f20]and possibly from exposure to the skin. the liver is

[color=#231f20]especially sensitive to carbon tetrachloride because it

[color=#231f20]enlarges and cells are damaged or destroyed. kidneys also

[color=#231f20]are damaged, causing a build up of wastes in the blood. if

[color=#231f20]exposure is low and brief, the liver and kidneys can repair

[color=#231f20]the damaged cells and function normally again. effects of

carbon tetrachloride are more severe in persons who drink

large amounts of alcohol.

if exposure is very high, the nervous system, including the

brain, is affected. people may feel intoxicated and experience

headaches, dizziness, sleepiness, and nausea and vomiting.

[color=#231f20]these effects may subside if exposure is stopped, but in

[color=#231f20]severe cases, coma and even death may occur.
