CCBC RN ATB school graduate experiences

Published

Hi All! I am currently an applicant to CCBC (Community College of Baltimore County) Catonsville days and the ATB program (associate to bachelors) my first choice is Frostburg University, my second choice is Stevenson. I am leaning toward Frostburg because I have to work while I'm in school and I like the convenience of distance learning. I am however nervous about the amount of work the ATB will be in general and the quality of the BSN education.

I would love to hear about anyones previous experience in the ATB program here are some questions I have:

Which university you chose for the BSN?

What was the work load and schedule like?

Were you employed while in the program?

What is your current work status?

Did you find that the program left you well prepared?

etc.

Any advice and or experiences shared are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm in ATB currently with Frostburg and am in the evening/weekend program. I work full-time, 5 days a week at a 9-5 job. I selected Frostburg for reasons similar to what you stated. I'm starting my 3rd class at Frostburg now, but the workload hasn't been to bad, just expect to write papers. Doing ATB was kind of a relief first semester, because it gave me an extra night off that most people had to be at CCBC on. You really just have to try and plan ahead and get the ATB stuff done whenever you have free time.

The program between CCBC and Frostburg is still relatively new, I think this is the second year, so it may be hard to find a whole lot of people to talk to. If you haven't already, go to one of the ATB sessions at CCBC and you can talk to someone from Frostburg, it may be helpful. Good luck!

Hi Hon918. Thank you very much for the response, I know it is not the ideal situation but it is a relief to know that the program is doable if you have to work. I currently work full-time as a PCT in an ER doing 7p-7a shift. I will be doing the day program so I may have to limit my work hours to weekends only to squeeze it all in, I'm hoping I don't have to take out student loans as I still have loans from a previous degree. I hadn't realized the ATB FSU option was so new, I will try to get to one of those info sessions. Thanks again!
