CCBC Essex - Eve/Wknd Program Schedule?

Published

I will soon be applying to the CCBC nursing program and am curious about the actual schedule of classes/clinicals. I've heard that for the E/W program lecture is two days per week and clinicals are saturday and sunday (7-12). Is this correct? Feedback from recent grads or current students is much appreciated. Thank you!

Well for the spring acceptance we found out 4-5 weeks after the deadline but I've noticed fall acceptance is almost the full 8 weeks. It is true you will have a seat fee a day or two before you receive your letter. You'll have a $200 balance on Simon. You'll get a packet of what to expect with deadlines and an orientation date. What is expected is certification of basic life support at a healthcare provider level a physical you'll need health insurance a drug test and background check and a little extra things but they'll elaborate at orientation. The first semester is 3 classes first is nurn 153 that's 6 credits it's fundamentals you will have lab for the first 8 weeks and then 2 weeks of clinical in long term care and 3 weeks in acute care and those will be on Thursday and Friday of each week. Then there is nurn 129 it's about professionalism and then nurn 155 is more clinical instruction but it's in a lab. Youll have class every day of the week except the weeks before clinicals begin. You'll need to buy uniforms but you'll get an order form at orientation you'll need a watch with a second ticker and white leather shoes. You'll need a stethoscope pen light forceps and scissors but they will be available from the uniform store. The necessary books you'll need will cost 1000+. Tutition for me this semester was 1812 and all the other expenses add up. The tools are like 70 a drug ftest and background check is 70 you need to buy Typhon which cost 50 you'll need the flu shot and the cpr certification will be 60-100 there's a separate other tool kit for the labs and that's like 70 too. I can't think anything else on the top of my head but I'll answer any questions you have to the best of my Ability.

Thank you so much for your detailed explanation. I an now kind of understand the things that I would be getting myself in to. I am a little freaked out because my gpa is not all of that great and I take my teas on Thurs. I just don't want to feel like I went through all of this and get waitlisted or not be accepted at all. What was you gpa and what did you score on the teas?

Gpa 2.83 and teas 87. I did very well on math and every semester we have dosage test we need to score a 95 on in order to move forward. This semester we have 4 chances to pass the test. Did you study for the teas? What are your strong subjects.

What is your gpa and have you completed all pre reqs?

My gpa right now is a 2.92. I am taking a&p 2 and speech for the spring. Those are the only 2 classes I have left. According to the course catalog, you can be enrolled in these two when you apply. I just hope that its not a reason I don't get in because im enrolled in these 2. I alreadt paid and applied, so I can't take it back.

I've been studying the TEAS book and I feel kind of confident. I am hoping that I score high enough on the TEAS to make a contender. My strongest subject is math. I am studying and focusing more on reading, english, and science, because I know those are the areas in which they consider the most.

Math was my strongest too I got a 100 if you take your time with math I'm sure you'll be able to get a 100 too. Science is very large in the topics expected to know. I think if you do pretty well on teas you'll be fine. They results will be ready 1-3 days after you take it mine was available next day. It compares you with the country and the other people that applied to ccbc

Awesome. I am going to spend the next 2 days studying like crazy! I just do not want to receive the letter stating that I was not accepted or I was waitlisted. I would be miserable. I guess I just have to keep high hopes and just see what happens. Thank you so much ashlee. Your info was much appreciated!!! I hope you have a awesome first semester and good luck!! I will keep you updated as well.

Yes hopefully we'll meet next semester. Once you're accepted they drill it into your head how much work it is but there are a lot of resources available to you. But let me know if you get accepted. I'd just relax until May what's done is done and you have no control after you submit your app but you're taking the teas early enough you could retake the them so that's good. Good luck.

Absolutely I hope we do as well. Ok I will mentally prepare for that. I will absolutely let you know if I did get accepted or not. Yes, it's submitted and all I can do now is hope for the best. The suspense is killing me though!! LOL. I don't know if I can wait 4 months to finally hear something back!!! But I guess I have no choice. But once again, thanks ash for everything.

Hey ashlee! Sorry for the late response. But I took the TEAS and got my results back from ATI and my Adj. individual score was a 78.7! It placed me in the advanced category. I am still a little iffy because I think that I could have done better and I don't know what the competition pool is like. I scored the highest in the math and science portion. I got a 81.3% in science and a 86.7% in math. In reading I got a 78.6. I did the worst in english and language usage with a 66.7%. I wish I did better in this category because that would of brought my overall score up!! I don't think I am going to retake the TEAS again because I just do not have the time at this point. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best!!!! I think it's pretty weird that there are not many people on this site that has also applied to the same nursing program as myself. I guess not many people know about this site.

How is your first semester going? I am anxious to hear about it and what you are doing to get by..

It goes fast and be prepared. So glad it's almost over lol! Heard anything yet?
