Is this reasonable or legal. It has destroyed whatever personal life I had. Supervisors only seem concerned with statistics not quality patient care. What are my rights related to working for this agency a normal pace allowing me time for my daughter and self ?
If you can, look into correctional health nursing. It is not worth your license or health to continue in this IMPOSSIBLE situation. I work in a state prison, but am Not a state employee. I work in NJ, and therefore actually work for UMDNJ. University of Medicine and Denistry of NJ. There are a lot of medical nurses that work in the state correctional facilities in NJ. Best kept secret in nursing.
I am certified to work in psych/ mental health and also belong to a union. I know I'm fortunate that way, but there is respect and protection by custody and administration. The pay is highter than I ever received in the private sector. I'm 58, and in nursing now 36 years.
The higher pay allows me to work part time. Please if you can look into it.

Trust your instincts. it is NOT reasonable or legal Please give correctional nursing a try if you can. Pay is good. I'm 58 and have worked in corrections the last nine years. Because of the higher pay ( and being unionized helps), I can work part time. I'm in nursing 36 years now, realize you have to work smarter as you get older. No one really has your back, and you need to look out for yourself. Good luck.

This is exactly the position I found myself in. I started having panic attacks, worrying about my patients, when they were promised so much more by the agency than I was able to provide. Even tho the company told me they had my back, I felt as if I was a team of one, not part of an interdisciplinary team. I am burned out and not sure where I will be able to work. Lots of online help is available in finding a new job - I say get out of there. Best of luck to us both!
