Case Western Reserve University LEAP Certificate Pathway Summer 2025

Published

Hello! I wanted to create this thread for updates for those applying to the LEAP Certificate program through Case Western the deadline is December 6. I'm nervous, but excited! I did attend one of their information sessions over the Summer and they mentioned that all applications would be reviewed at the same time. There was no early decisions. All applications would be reviewed once the application cycle has closed and that we'll start hearing responses in January.

These stats are pretty good, do you have an idea of why you were previously denied? Did you reach out for feedback from the directors to find out why?

Yes, the feedback I got so far is to improve on my interview skill, hoping the LEAP program will help me achieve that since it is focused on developing leadership skills 🤞

10yrs nursing experience with most recent 4 yrs of MICU, overall 3.6, 3.7 nursing and 4.0 science GPA, CCRN, TNCC, PALS, ACLS,  shadowed a CRNA 17 hrs, preceptor experience. Denied from a few CRNA schools 😭.

Whoa these are super stats ! If you're getting rejected then...😭 are you getting interviews or straight rejections?

4 years nursing experience, 2 years in level 1 surgical ICU. Overall 3.2, 3.1 nursing, 3.0 science. Took a graduate biochem and got an A. CCRN, studying for CSC, ACLS, BLS, PALS. Precept, training to run charge, on committees. Volunteer work outside of work.  40 hours of shadow experience. Lots of rejections so far, one interview and waitlisted. Good luck to us all!

Applied to 4 and got 3 interview invites and 1 rejection. got waitlisted for 2 so far and one interview is coming up 🤞

Those ARE great stats, JRIVs! And it's a GREAT sign that you're getting interviews!

More importantly, while it may not feel like it, it's crucial that you remember that a wait-list IS a "Yes! We just need more room"!

100s of people applied, likely half of those applicants got interviews, and significantly less than that got accepted and/or Waitlisted.

THIS MEANS ALL SIGNS POINT TO GO! 😉

Put the pedal to the metal and don't give up! Stay in touch with those Waitlisted seats-- if you have ANY updates to send them to show how hungry you are for CRNA school admission, do that.

Meaning- if you get extra shadowing hours in, attend a local or state conference, attend an event with the AANA (*ahem, CSPA has done wonderful online events with the AANA and are planning more for 2025 so be sure to follow along with us on social to be the first to find out about these!)

Even things like getting new leadership experience, volunteer work-- all GREAT reasons to reach out to those programs where you're Waitlisted to touch base with them (rather than just reaching out to ask for your position on the wait-list or for an update, having something to show them YOU'RE still committed is gold!)

For the others on this thread-- I've spoken with a number of program directors who have acknowledged that they KNOW they're turning away qualified applicants year after year.

The national CRNA school acceptance rate is only 12%-15%.

For what it's worth, CSPA students have anywhere from a 30-50% acceptance rate (which goes up to 81% if you're with us for more than 6 months!). And our 12-Month Intensive has a 100% acceptance rate.

It's not about having the best GPA, or the exact right ICU experience- it's a combination of strong academics, strong Clinical experience, strong interview skills (not just clinical knowledge, but EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE is KEY!) and yes many programs like to see leadership roles, volunteer/community involvement etc.

Check this out if you want more details about how our mentorship program can help you: https://crnaschoolprepacademy.com/the-secret-behind-cspas-80-acceptance-rate/

Whether you join or not-- we are rooting for each and every one of you! You CAN become a CRNA, believe in yourself and stay the course. You got this!

No, nothing yet. I inquired about a timeline during an online information session they held. The director stated that students would start receiving invites in the 2nd to 3rd week of January. I hope this helps!
