Hello I am currently attending a CNA training course but was offered two different positions at a local assisted living center and I am not sure which position to choose. Caregiver or med aid? Both are part time so I can still attend my CNA class and continue working on pre reqs. Any advise as to each position and what would be most beneficial to a pre nursing student.
Thanks in advance!

The med aid would be the most helpful when becoming a RN because you will have some exposer to handling medications. Being a caregiver would be helpful too because you will have direct patient care.
My guess is that the med aid will also have direct care responsibilities as well, just not as much since you will be mainly responsible to dispensing medication. I am also guessing the the med aid will make more money per hour than a care giver because there is more responsibility.
Personally, I'd stick with finishing up my CNA and then focus on getting into a nursing home or hospital. That is where the real experience ...and the money (more than in most assisted living centers anyway)is!
