Career Path

I entered the nursing filed about a year ago, with an end goal as an RN. I am currently a CNA/CMA and I really didn't care for nursing homes too much, it wasn't the resident care that got to me it was the rule book the size of New York City that drove me nuts. I decied to tread off the beaten path a little bit and currently taking classes for an EMT-B. After I am done I wanted to get the EMT-I and work in ER's as an ER tech. I do still want to be an RN one day, and I have been trying to find out the best way to get there. I have a family and it's really hard to jugle both work, school, and a family so the more I can do online the better! So my question is this: I know that from an LPN-RN you can do that online and that's my pefered method of school. So if I were to enroll in an LPN program as an EMT-I would I have to do the whole year or would I be able to skip some of it. I know there is no offical bridge but I was thinking if I were both an LPN/EMT-I I could finish the RN online and work in an ER. So if anyone knows anthing about this please let me know. Thanks for everything

The only online program I know of is through Excelsior and from what I understand you have to be a LPN first. Also there are several states who do not recognize Excelsior, so you wouldn't be able to get licensed in those states.

As far as EMT classes taking the place of LPN classes, I think that is doubtful as they are two very different fields. I might be wrong though.
