Career Options for new Nurses

I was hoping someone could give me insight or advice on how they chose their nursing career path. I will be graduating in the Spring and it is almost time to apply for new grad programs and nursing jobs. I am interested in the Oregon State Penitentiary, but also ER, Peri Op or med surg would be interesting. Does anyone have any experience working OSP they could share?
