Career change

Hello all, so I am new to this site although I would search topics online frequently to just read. So as of today, I am now no longer a paramedic. I graduated last Dec and got a job for a very busy 911 system. I left that job and got something else with better hours so I am able to go to school. I had never thought that while doing this job, that I would then find out, that I really do not like being a paramedic. I love helping people, I enjoy the skills that go along with it, such as i.v.'s and giving meds that will help what ails them, but for some reason, when I am working as a paramedic, I just do not enjoy it. Maybe its the type of calls that I would dread going on, the fact that I feel like I do not get to do enough, im not sure. Most of the people in EMS are great, but man, are there a ton that are beyond arrogent. Talk about aweful. I am really looking forward to getting into nursing and I am skipping the bridge, paramedic to RN programs, as I am not sure how beneficial that would be. I am looking forward to the added knowledge that nurses obtain. I guess my question is, and I know that paramedic and Nurse are very different, for those of you that maybe have walked a bit in my shoes with this same issue, can I enjoy nursing, if I dont like paramedic? Maybe I just answered my question, all I know is I think nursing is a more better fit than being a paramedic

Well you said you don't like being a paramedic because of the arrogance you encounter, the type of calls you dread going on, and the fact you can't do enough?

Unfortunately you're going to encounter all that in nursing too. But I don't personally think hating paramedics is going to mean you'll hate nursing. (But I'm just a student and I was never in EMS)

My CPR teacher told us she loves being a paramedic because she gets to do her job then "drop" the patient off with the nurses and that she'd hate being a nurse.

What are your reasons for wanting to go into nursing?
