I already have a BS degree in a completely unrelated field and hope to get into the accelerated 2nd degree program at Texas A&M by Jan 2014. I am currently working full time in a career I want to leave while taking the prerequisites to get into the nursing program. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look for a job with decent pay (at least $40,000) while I take my prereqs? I'd love to get SOME experience somewhere in the medical/healthcare field before starting nursing school full time, but I don't have any experience other than military, law enforcement, and teaching CPR .

I don't know of any entry-level positions in healthcare with that type of salary. I am assuming you are in TX so you probably already know that healthcare salaries are lower than many other industries and most jobs that pay >$25k will require specialty education/certification. There may be some clerical jobs in non-clinical areas. If you are competent in medical terminology, there may be clerical jobs in clinical areas.
I would advise you to carefully investigate the marketability of ABSN grads before you invest so much time and money. Most of my organization's hiring managers are avoiding ABSN grads due to negative past experience.
