Care Plan Help Please :)

I'm making a care plan on a pt who just had a radical mastectomy, I'm going to do do risk for infection... I've been looking in my Med Surg book and I can't find what a pt WBC would be after a radical mastectomy. I am wondering if anyone knows what the count would be after one. Thank-you :)

Hopefully it's normal after surgery. I'm assuming you're also looking for several other indicators of infection.

Has she had any other treatment? Could that affect the white cell count?

Yeah I'm looking for indicators for my assessment.

Other treatments, in the past shes had chemo, leep for her cervical deplasia.

she has asthma and allegies and she still smokes 1/2 pack a day.

This is just a case scenario teachers made for us at school.. We have to do pathos, make care plan, make a plan of care (what will i do for my shift with this pt) and fill out a kardex.

This isn't even for marks, it's for skills testing. If our documentation is bad we get send away and can't do our skills test.

How recent was the chemo? What type? Why is that important - particularly for the question you asked in your first post?

What other signs and symptoms might you assess for? It's probably a little harder using a case scenario instead of a real patient that you can completely assess, but there are still tons of directions you can go on this one.
