Hello,
I tried to find the answer to this on this forum but couldn't.
I'm just about to start nursing school this fall. But my end goal is to work in California as an RN. I'm wondering if it's easier to complete my education in California or in Canada and "transfer" I know you would have to take the NcLEX again.
Ive heard that the California board doesn't like to accept anyone out of state. And that you might be required to live somewhere else in USA for a year before they will accept you? Is that true? Would I be better off attending school in California though it may be significantly more expensive? Or is it possible to transfer schools part way thru? If I attend in California then I'm thinking the board would accept me right away?
thank you for any advice you may have :)

I doubt you will be able to transfer part way through nursing school. It can be difficult moving credits between states or even from within state, so coming from outside the country will be even harder. CA is notorious for being difficult for IEN and accepting training.

You are better off obtaining your education in Canada, as a US education might not be comparable to a Canadian BScN and you may experience difficulty becoming licensed in Canada. You wont be eligible to live in the US permanently and you might not get hired in California as their market is saturated with new grads.
Ok thank you for the advice :)

yea that your best bet cause at least if you have Canadian education you wont run into problems in the long wrong with your BSN degree
