I am an RN in Ontario (passed my NCLEX in January), and now I’m seeking a license in New York State. I have tried to figure out what to do, but it all seems so confusing.
Do I sign up with NYSED and apply for a license? Or do I need to also apply for CGFNS (NY state).. or is it under Visascreens? On CGFNS they ask for my license verification - but I’m not sure if they will check it on their own, or request the CNO send it to them. (CNO is seriously useless when it comes to asking for any help), and I have not gotten any emails back from them for the last few months.

The CGFNS is needed for getting the TN visa and unlike other states NY state will review the CGFNS but will still do all the work again to ensure you can get a license. I am not sure if you actually need the CGFNS prior to applying for a NY license. My recommendation is to try and do both at the same time to expedite the process.
I am currently in the process of applying for NYS RN licence. I am also a green card holder so do I need to go through CGFNS? So far, NYSED has received my application and school education verification and now awaiting CNO to verify my licence registration and NCLEX confirmation. Do I need to send CNO form 3 or form 3F or do I even need to send them any forms? I requested for verification without attaching any forms so now I am confused. Thank you for your help.
