Hello, I am an RPN in Ontario, Canada and I would like to bridge to get my BSN RN in the US. I've read that in some States a Canadian RPN/LPN Diploma can be equivalent to a US ADN. I wanted to know if it is possible for a Canadian RPN to bridge with an American university and if so, what would the process be like? I also plan to work in the US if I were to get my BSN degree.
The reason why I am looking into bridging programs in the US as opposed to the bridging programs in Canada is because majority of them are 3 years long and only offer online learning for part-time students.
If anyone has any knowledge or insight I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you ?

Hi.
1. You would need to apply to your choice of State Board of Nursing and they would decide if your Ontario RPN education is equivalent to US ADN.
2. International education would need to be assessed by the school's choice of assessor. If your education is considered ADN level then you could apply to the ADN to BSN program. I found on my searches that ADN programs had all the clinical areas completed on med, surg, peds, obs, & psych so the BSN courses could be offered online.
3. If ever you would need to transfer back your US BSN to Canada then you would need to be assessed by NNAS.

I'm also a RPN in Ontario, Canada and I am starting the process to apply with the MN board of nursing. Did you have any updates if your RPN schooling/credentials were equivalent to US ADN? I'm assuming it would be or at least maybe we would need an additional course or 2.
