Canadian LPN soon to be grad wanting to work in FL

Published

Hello,

Does anyone know the steps required to make one eligible to seek LPN work in Florida? Is it just a matter of challenging? Hoping to relocate after getting some experience under my belt and then upgrading to BSN. Any input would be helpful!

First, what is your status in the US? Are you eligible to work here?

Second, take a look at the FL BON Board Overview - Florida Board of Nursing - Board Overview

to find out the steps needed to get licensed here in FL.

Then start reading up on the FL economy. Its bad here now and not getting any better for everyone including nurses.

Not currently eligible to work in states, no. But understand the steps it involves to become so.

I am aware of the economy there, as my parents live in Florida. Thanks for the link!

Unless one of your parents are American or you marry an American you can't work in the USA as an LPN. Only RNs are needed here under the TN visa which is fairly easy to obtain. The USA doesn't have a shortage of LPNs. Email me if you need more info. I am a Canadian LPN but I did the upgrade to RN in Michigan and I got my RN in Florida. Now I work in the USA. I looked into it when I was an lpn.

Mark, I am a canadian Lpn, plan going to USA for rn
