Can somebody tell me about being a nurse in Canada..I have been thinking of going up there ( it seems easier than being on a waiting list in California) also once I have my degree is it easily transferrable to sit the California boards if I chose to come back?

It may not be worth much, but I have a friend who graduated from a Canadian school and easily landed a job in California right away. So I know it can be done quite easily, actually. Each situation may be different, however. Good luck!

I nurse in Canada and it has been awesome..They now only have the BSN programs, closed all the schoolds of Nursing a few years back...( Not a good move )...Anyway I just finished writing the NCLEX and I am now registered to work in TN..

Are you on a waiting list in California to get into Nursing?

Its getting here to go to school that would be the longest process..Not sure what the protocol is but it sure was lengthy to going from Canada to the US with Visa Screen etc..

Best of luck!!

Hey there just wanted to add that in the province of Manitoba there is a two year diploma nursing program that gets you RN status. I'm not sure but i believe that theres another one out there but i cant remember where. If I understand it correctly you can come up here and take your education and then I think you'd have to go through a visa screen process because you were trained internationally (even though you are an American).
