Canadian Graduate nurse wanted to know how to apply for NCLEX....

Published

Hi Everyone,

I just finished BScN in one of the universities in Toronto, and also took the CRNE in June 2011. I wanted to work in the US particularly in Florida. I am hoping if anyone could give me some information on how to apply for NCLEX and what are the requirements needed other than passing the CRNE?

Thank you so much,

This is a question for the International Forum, so it's being transferred there. You might want to do a keyword search of that forum because there are many, many threads that deal with exactly that.

Hi there,

I have been in the States for nearly 20 yrs, and it took me 3 yrs to figure out what to do...

But here's what came out of it: A) Call the board of nursing in the state you want to practice;or check their website ( check fl.gov.org or something like that) I found out if you have a Canadian license ( I had one), it is usually pretty easy to transfer, especially as you have been educated in an English speaking province and if I recalled well, wasn't necessary to take the NCLEX...I did take it last July, after having been out of nursing for quite a while, passed it ( amazingly!) and I got a job for the summer here in CT (jobs are harder to find).

Definitely, call the board of Florida...If you do have to pass the NCLEX, it is an interesting format, but if you know your stuff, no worries! Good luck!
