Hello, future nurses!

I'm a current U of C student who applied through the degree holder route. I'll be graduating at the end of this year. Please feel free to post any questions here!

Another round of applications is starting soon for the January 2019 intake of Transfer and/or Degree Holder students. Here's the U of C page for their info:

Degree Holder

One of the most common questions is whether the courses you have taken meet the faculty's pre-requisites. The best way to be sure is to email a screenshot of your transcript to [email protected] and ask if you are missing anything.

Important note! As of 2019, the faculty is changing the schedule for the summer terms.

"We will compress all courses in Term 4 and Term 7 to be offered over a 9-week period from late April to the end of June. The result would be an intense spring term, but students would have no scheduled nursing courses during July and August."

While having 2 months off sounds great for some, it causes trouble for others (student loans, jobs, child care etc.). Please be aware of this change before applying.

Best of luck!

Hi Everyone I know this is off topic. I am currently thinking of applying for the degree holder route Jan 2020. I just registered for the Biol 235 in Athabasca University to start November . I have a question for those people that did pre -requisite in Athabasca University can you list the names of all acceptable pre-requisites you took or is acceptable for English, Arts and statistics. Thank you and congrats to all that just got accepted

Hi Kute 44. Acceptable prereqs from Athabasca Uni are as follows: English- Eng255, Arts- Psyc228, and Statistics- Mth215.

These are the ones I took. Hope this helps. Pls don't hesitate to ask if you need more clarity.

Hi everyone. Congratulations to everyone who has gotten accepted.

Please does any one know how University of Calgary translates courses from Athabasca University? For example , a score of 77 on course from Athabasca is 3.40 GP. Will U of C accept this as a 3.4 or calculate it as a 3.00? Thank you

Hi Sylkismoothe. This link answers your question. Weighted Grade / GPA Calculator (U of Calgary) - GradeCalc.info

Good luck.

Thank you so much Glowree!

Thanks very useful information. I'll look into them

Hi Ming88,

Thanks for the reply! I actually called the school about it and the person I spoke to said it must just be an error. Just thought I should leave this information up here in case anyone else was concerned.

Hey guys! I have received my green check mark today!! So excited!! I first called the faculty to just check the status of my application since I sent it on Aug 16. I was told I would hear back between mid oct- mid nov.

Looked back a couple hrs later and got accepted. Also I was told my GPA is 3.55 and she said it might go lower then that. Good luck everyone and see you in January!!

Congrats Justinej1. What route did you apply for?
