University of Calgary Nursing Transfer January 2017

World Canada CA Programs

Published

I applied to the U of C Winter 2017 program! I took the Athabasca University A/P course and haven't done well in it due to some family health issues that have taken most of my time. It is strange for me as that course comes in way below what i am used to getting. I have a 89.46 major average at the University of Waterloo. Unfortunately due to the uniqueness of my program there, most of those high average courses wont transfer and they will probably end up taking my lowest marks. I am really confused about how they calculate averages though. I know that an 80-84 is a 3.7 but then it drops to 77-79.9 is a 3.3. So how do we know what is in between that? Also i have courses transferring from an exchange in Australia but they wont tell me what they translate to in my GPA. I think that i am actually about to go crazy from the anxiety that i feel not knowing these things! It is 1 am and i am frantically searching for answers when i work at 4 am. Can anyone help me out? Also when i called they told me that the cutoff is 3.07 BUT that the faculty will release a higher one later on. Good luck everyone! :)

Congrats! Wondering when you submitted your application?

I submitted in mid July but I don't think it's first come first served.

Hello!

I called enrolment services this morning and was told that the current cutoff for transfer and degree holder routes is 3.60. Everyone with a GPA ranging from 2.75 to 3.59 has been placed on their "hold list". Applicants who have received offers have 30 days to accept. Good-luck to everyone! :)

Also as of September 20th, only 10 students have registered for classes! Which leaves lots of room :)

Lots of room for everyone! I got my student loans approval today! Has anyone received their registration packages in the mail yet?

Hey everyone! I was just wondering for those of you who have been accepted congratulations! I was just curious how long it took from when your transcripts were all in before you heard? There was an error in mine so one of my transcripts only got sorted out today and I have a GPA above 3.6 so I am anxious to hear from the Nursing Department but I am not sure how long it will even take before the admissions office passes on my application. Any insight would be great!

Hey I was just wondering how long you went between checking and saw it was an orange triangle to then it being a green check mark. I looked yesterday and had the orange triangle and now its a green circle. I am a little anxious and definitely neurotic and I check about 2 times (sometimes 3) a day so if I know it was a few days or weeks I will try and chill a little bit!! just super anxious!

Hey kswain, I have above a 3.6 as well and still haven't heard anything :( you're not alone haha I check about twice a day too. I'm just going to go in person and ask about my status. Good luck

Hey reactiv, let me know what they say when you go in. I know that they might not have my application yet in the nursing department because the Admissions office has to do the preliminary evaluation and my transcripts only got confirmed today. fingers crossed!

Just got the green check mark! So excited! I happened to call the enrolment office and they had miscalculated my GPA so I'm glad I called because as soon as they adjusted it, I got an offer. Good luck to those of you still waiting!!
