I have to give a presentation in my pre conference in clinical to my instructor and classmates about this and all I have is basic info. Is there someone who can give me more info. about this and more depth so I can get a better understanding on this? thanks
PT/PTT are laboratory tests that measure the clotting time (how long it takes blood to clot.)
PT/PTT are blood tests and INR is a ratio calculated from the PT.

Vicky;
I have a 30 year old daughter that is currently being treated with Coumadin and Lovenox for DVT. This is her second time getting a clot. the first time was understandable because she fell down a flight of stairs a month before major back/spine surgery but here it is a year later and another clot shows up. Finally got her Dr. to give a referal to a hematologist and he is running a bunch of tests. The problem is her INR will not go up to therapeutic levels. She was stayed around 1.3, gone down to .6, back up to 1.3. She is more careful than anyone I have ever know with her diet, liquids she drinks....herbs....etc...It's been frustrating. When she was on coumadin before she had the same problems but was able to keep it higher than now. Do you think there could be a problem with her liver?
