Can "C, B" nursing graduates pass the NCLEX?

Hi Guys and Gals,

I just graduated this May with my RN from a ADN program. Whew it was tough, but I made it! I was not a "A" student. Most times I was a high "C" or middle "B". My question is this....how many other graduates have passed the NCLEX with similar student scores? I am awaiting my ATT, have been studying, trying to be positive but still worried! Thanks ya all!

Hey. C's get degrees, man. I got two Cs during my two year program, one in pharmacology and one in Med-Surg I. And the rest of the time I was a solid B student. My exam scores got progressively lower the longer I went on, and I don't think I got higher than a 78 in my second year. I passed my NCLEX on the first try. I got 170 questions. You can do it.

Thanks for the feedback! Looks like we are leading the same life. My last med surg class I got a 83 overall. Just received my ATT, kinda freakin! How did you study for the NCLEX?

I feel like such a slacker because people bust their asses off studying for this thing, and I would study for maybe a couple hours every other day or so, while distracted with the TV and cats and baking, etc. I graduated May 5th. Took my exam on the 23rd. Fully expected to fail and was even looking at dates in July for when I'd be allowed to take it again after I served my 45 day penalty. So I didn't even give myself a full 3 weeks to prepare. I am NOT the person to model yourself after when it comes to studying.

THAT SAID: I used UWorld. I did about 900 of the 2000+ questions plus the two predictor exams. I took the first predictor before I started studying and got a borderline "that was pretty ****** but you did well enough to toe the line so we have no idea whether you're going to pass or not" grade, and then I took the second one the day before I was to take my exam and got a high chance of passing. I read all the rationales, wrote some of them out that I couldn't seem to wrap my head around. I listened to some lectures from RegisteredNurseRN on Youtube about topics from way back in the beginning of school that I hadn't bothered to look back at for a while. She was only someone I could take in small doses, though, because her accent and the way she pronounced some words just grated on my nerves. (Petty personal complaint, I know.)

The one thing I do regret not doing is using the Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment book that I bought myself. I did one chapter in that, and then surprise surprise I had SO MANY prioritization questions that I wanted to bang my head off the desk during my exam. Don't be like me. If you struggle with prioritization: study that.

ETA: NOT to downplay this exam AT ALL or suggest you should just blow it off. Regardless of my study habits, I did go in there and try my very hardest and read through the questions carefully. I ended up taking too long and was worried I was going to get 265 questions and run out of time. Thankfully, it shut off at 170.

Yesssssss you can pass the beast called NCLEX! Grades really don't mean anything when it comes to this test. I've read on several social media outlets of straight A students NOT PASSING! And, us so-so students passing on the first try with the minimum or more questions.

I once was an honor student, but nursing school dragged my GPA to í ½í²© but I survived! I needed a break afterwards while my classmates continued to study. I took 2 months off to sleep and be with my family! I finally accessed my Uworld account and took the predictor and got borderline chance of passing í ¾í´ª shocking I know lol! So I studied for 2 months, did half of the questions (1,000), listened to Mark Klimeck audios, and did the LaCharity booklet. Thankfully I did because I had a ton of prioritization and delegation questions.

I had 20 SATAs, 2 dosage questions, the usual common meds and some I never heard of. I took just under 3 hours to answer 138 questions with a potty and snack break í ½í¸‰ and hear I am....a newly licensed RN!!!!

SO YOU CAN DO IT TOO!!

Do you by any chance have the Mark Klimek audio that you can send to me by email?? I take my exam in a couple of weeks, totally freaking out but I heard good things about Mark Klimek. I would really appreciate your help!

I was an average student, sometimes barely scraping by with the lowest C possible. Passed the NCLEX in 75 questions. If I can do it, you can do it. I don't think grades matter as much as the way that you think does, if that makes sense. Can you think critically and keep your pt safe? If yes, you can pass NCLEX-RN.

Thanks for the reply! I am 4 weeks from my test date and have been studying every day, but I still feel like I am unorganized with it all. Did you have a study plan?
