i am wondering what kind of exam someone would take to be a certified lab tech to work somewhere like quest or labcorp. is it possible to take the test after the first or second semester of nursing school? taking microbiology has really interested me in diagnosing diseases.is there a certain field of nursing that deal with this?
Ask an advisor for a phlebotomy program in your school or another one.
I also recommend you consider changing your major to Medical Lab Technologist. They do interesting work, the pay is approximate to nursing and they do not have to argue with the public. Not bad
To become a medical laboratory technician you must take a one year certificate program (don't know if they have the one year program in the U.S...but they have it in Canada)...otherwise just become a medical laboraory technologists...to be the technologist you need a Bachelors degree.
