RE: Fluid and Electrolytes
If you had a patient who had low potassium and calcium.. can you mis your KCl and calcium gluconate in the same bag with your normal saline?

We are just getting into IV meds, but I think you would end up with an IVPB rather than everything in one bag. According to my IV med book, both KCl and calcium gluconate are compatible with NS. You should get one of these books, it has a nice chart to check solution compatibility. It's 2010 Intravenous Medications - It's a Mosby book.

why cant you run them separately into separate lines at the same time? especially because what if they both have different rates?

I've had to give both before, but our pharmacy sends them up IVPB in separate baggies. Depending on how low the pt's level is, I'd give the one needed most first and then the other. Or if both are drastically needed right away, then I'd get another IV going on the pt and infuse both at the same time, but each through a separate IV site.
