Can lvn assist with staples

Hey all, just kind of freaking out so I thought I would post on here. Had a little thing at work, but didn't think it was a big deal until someone talked to me. I assisted a doctor today with stapling a laceration. There was a couple she couldn't get so she asked me to physically staple myself while she supervised. I didn't think it was a big deal since I was working under her order.. now I have people telling me that I was practicing out of my scope and I'm worried. I'd rather not say what hospital I work for but I was wondering if anybody had any ideas or advice? Btw I live in Ca

You wouldn't intubate a pt just because you were working under their supervision, would you? Same applies to anything else that isn't in your scope.
