Can LPN's work independently

Published

Hi, I've looked for the answer to this question and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I live full time in my RV on a campground and have been asked to start have a "clinic day" where other Full Timers (mostly retirees) can come in and have their Vitals, Blood Glucose level, obtain Drug Urine tests (done currently annually outsourced), fix up minor scrapes and bruises, ect. There is nothing set up currently and I would be doing the ground breaking. I have 30 years experience in ICU to clinic setting but have always worked under an RN or MD, just not sure about the legality of it all. Would I just have to have people sign waivers for myself and the park? I don't know for sure. Maybe it's not legal for me to do it at all, although I'm able to do private duty nursing. Any suggestions or legal advice would be appreciated. I would like to put together a proposal for the park and would like to have more input first. Thanks for your help.

I have seen postings where LPNs want to start their own health care agencies. I would suggest researching the situation online. I'm sure something is available out there somewhere. Maybe consulting an attorney or checking with the BoN in your state and see if it is possible to do what you would like to do. Good luck.
