I've sent for and received my license?
I'm so freakin' broke it's not funny. I'll have my test results any day now (I'm in CA) and I NEED to work. I'm 2 months behind on my rent, there's no money for my car payment let alone back-to-school shopping ect..
I can't even afford to pay for my license till I get work.
in-a-hole time
I can't work at my usual job right now because work comp says I can't lift more than 10 lbs. I've been doing home health caregiver work so of course they haven't called in two months. I can't get workers comp. $$ and my ex stopped paying child support 3 months ago ( I don't fault him, he's recovering from major injury/surgery and is worse off financially than I am). I'm getting a tiny amount from unemployment, and I sell my plasma :oP twice a week.
I've found the perfect job where being a new grad and a crappy back won't be a prob. but do I bother even applying before I've got the ACTUAL license in my hands. A SNF is out of the question for the moment.
Should i just start putting in App.'s at Mc. D's?
advice??

When I was finishing school, they gave me a packet that included instructions and paperwork for a temporary license in case we applied for a job and wanted to work before we got our permanent license. Anyway, I didn't do the temporary paperwork then I decided to find a job as a nurse this summer before I go back to school for my ADN. The school sent me a form and when I was offered a job as a graduate nurse, the DON at the facility signed the form and I paid ten dollars and sent it back to the school to verify my graduation and they sent it off to the state to issue my temporary license. I got it within 2 weeks and then I set up my NCLEX 4 weeks later on July 29. I was trained during my graduate nurse/temporary permit period, then, as of two days ago, I am officially a credentialled LPN in our state and I will hand in a note to the human resource office that my status is changed to active LPN and I will get a raise! Yeahhh!
Good luck to you and go get your job!

I have 18 years experience in workers' comp so my advice is to ask your insurance carrier for an advance on your settlement. Let them know your situation about being behind on your rent and car payments, utilities, etc. Some insurance companies are open to giving advances. If you're represented by an attorney, call your attorney's office and have them fax a request to the insurance company for the advance.
Good luck!
