I am looking to apply to the nursing program at my local college (florida community college at jacksonville) however, I am concerned because I was told by a student advisor that it is impossile to work and complete the program. Is this true? As much as I want to become a nurse, I have to be able to pay my bills. I am welling to work nights or go to school at night. Is it possible to work and complete a nursing program?

I just visited http:///www.NursingCrossing.com and found the most Nursing Jobs I've ever seen. http:///www.nursingcrossing.com is a real time saver because it pulls together jobs from thousands of web sites so you don't have to. It has nursing career tips, nursing job market news too.

its almost impossible to work while you are in nursing school, or do your laundry, or wash your dishes, or even sleep. When the rest of your family smells coffee at 5 am, its not because you just woke up, its because you pulled an all-nighter!!! Wish you the best of luck!

When there's a will there's a way, and you do what you have to do. But you have to want to be a nurse badly.

Take a year to get all non-nursing classes done - the language arts, social sciences and natural sciences prior to starting the nursing program and take the nursing program by itself and it can be done while working. Won't be easy, but lots of us had to work full time and do nursing school full time as well.

Good luck.

I want to tell you it is possible. I started the process in the spring of 2002. I was pregnant with my second child and going to school full time. I did well that first semester, and took a year off to find out how to fill out the paperwork for financial aid. The rest of the time I have spent in school (I graduated in May) I went to school fulltime till starting the actual Nursing program. I also worked full time, and had baby number 3. During the actual nursing program I did work full time for most of it. You can also get grants, loans, and scholorships. Iwas able to graduate with a 3.0 GPA and PHI THETA KAPPA. SO I have to say that if you WANT to be a nurse then it can be done!!!! Good Luck with everything.
