Can I stop ISU at RN

Nursing Students Online Learning

Are you able to just go from LPN to RN with ISU? Can anyone in the program tell me how long it will take you to finish?

What, exactly, are you asking? You can not sit for the RN boards without graduating from the program, which would entail obtaining the BSN degree. If you have a question about this, the people to ask would be the advisors at ISU, or the Board of the state where you intend to get licensed.

CA will allow you to sit for the NCLEX-RN if you complete at least up to the ADN requirements with out graduating from a BSN program. You really should check the state BRN and find out what the requirements are. Good Luck

How long it takes you to obtain your BSN depends on where you live. In Calif, only one clinical class a semester can be taken; this lengthens the time it takes to graduate. If you have a bachelors in another subject, you are freed from taking ISU gen ed classes so that speeds things up.

Go to the ISU website and look at the amount of courses you will need to take. I believe there are 6 clinical classes as well as other classes in the program that must be taken. Also, you cannot take classes out of sequence, even if the class has no nursing preprequisite. Another issue is whether or not a class is offered summer. The first semester students cannot take nursing summer classes; they can take general ed classes, though. Again, how long it takes you to graduate and sit for the RN NCLEX depends you and and whether the classes are available. Supposedly, it takes 2.5 years for someone who has a bachelors. Don't really know is this is correct or if it actually takes longer.

I heard of a Washington state DL college where you take the classes on line and then go up there for a few weeks and take the clinicals at their assigned sites. I believe their program is about a year, but I am not really certain it; could be a little less or a little more. I would love this program, but cannot be away from home that long.
